Industrial design and its role in today's society

Industrial design deals with the creation and development of products, from the conceptualization of an idea, the manufacturing and production process. It focuses on identifying a market opportunity or developing, improving or innovating a product.

This discipline focuses on mass-produced items, combining materials, shapes, colors and finishes, taking into account the preferences and needs of the user. New technologies currently offer a wide range of possibilities in this area.

In today's society, it is not only concerned with providing new solutions to the requirements of users and consumers, but rather, it gives a new look and better performance to products that previously already fulfilled a specific function, optimizing materials and processes.

It plays a fundamental role in the advancement of society, it is in constant evolution, as society, new technologies and, therefore, the new requirements that must be covered, do so.

In this sense, Miami Technology & Arts University proposes the program of Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design, in order to train professionals capable of developing products, processes and production systems that directly contribute to improving the quality of life within any community.

Through its subjects, it enhances skills to collaborate and contribute within multidisciplinary work teams, continuously applying analysis and critical thinking to generate solutions to common and complex problems in the field of Industrial Design. Its learning methodology provides its students with the knowledge, tools and skills necessary to perform successfully in the competent labor field.

The knowledge acquired during the degree will allow students to develop sustainable design solutions to current and relevant production needs, considering the technology and available resources, in the context of an increasingly globalized society in constant transformation.
