Strategies that help improve student learning

Teaching strategies are the procedures or resources used by teachers or tutors to achieve significant learning in students, through an active, participatory, cooperative and experiential process.

In addition to enhancing the ability to learn and solve problems, it promotes the intellectual development of students, increasing their skills exponentially. Its importance lies in the fact that each person has a different form and a defined time in which they can capture and interpret information, so that, over time, various strategies have been developed.

Currently, an educational model based on competencies and centered on the student stands out, allowing new forms of relationship between the teacher and the student, through more flexible and creative methodologies, promoting and enhancing the practice and resolution of pedagogical problems, in which the student is the protagonist in the process that leads to the construction of their learning.

When we refer to learning strategies we can mention three main axes that help improve it:

  • Participation: this type of strategy is based on the development of critical and creative thinking, learning will be focused on the student's activity, under constant reasoning, leading to the development of a comprehensive memory.
  • Cooperation: this strategy involves the formation of small groups, formed to execute teaching procedures based on joint work in a coordinated manner to solve academic tasks and deepen learning in the environment.
  • Experiential: this methodology leads to learning through doing or practice, promoting the construction of knowledge, acquiring new skills directly from experience or experience.

The strategies become the fundamental tools that the teacher will use according to the group, their preferences or forms of learning appropriate to each member of the classroom, encompassing a set of procedures and cognitive resources. Currently they must be governed by the new paradigms and the implementation of methods that mainly respond to the demands of the educational field in general.
